Always Sonni in Houston Texas.
so everything seems to be bigger, like I’ve heard. The van ride yesterday was not too bad due to the plan I came up with. Knowing that we had a 5 hour drive I woke up yesterday morning after 4 hours of sleep, went on a run, (which in Louisiana was a sweaty decision) and loaded the van only to sleep for probably 20 minutes. good plan kelsey… yes, wake up early to sleep in the van and then don’t sleep in the van. Brilliant.
The show last night was a lot of fun. I’ve been able to get to know the other bands pretty well since we re-do a night’s activities every night. Last night we were trying to figure out an exciting addition for copeland’s set and decided an acoustic version of the electric slide would be great. the highly anticipated encore didn’t make the cut last night. maybe next time. ha ha.
Today is our first day off so far. Our activities include sleeping in, going to wal-mart for an oil change and grocery shopping, and then driving to Little Rock to sleep. We play tomorrow in Springfield, MO and are trying to make the long drive a little shorter tomorrow.
Right now I am sitting in Houston at our new friend Sonni’s house. She is such a sweet mother of 5 who has a great sense of humor and tons of stories about her daughter’s love life. I love the people we have stayed with so far on the tour. All so gracious, all so different.
Yesterday I was describing home to Hannah, our cello player, and Laura our violin player who also is my roommate. The description of my parents, our puppies, and our easter traditions made me a mix of homesick and unbelievably excited to be in Minneapolis next saturday. well.. looks like it’s time for me to sip the last of my houston cup of joe and hit the shower. life on the road is fun and even more fun when you can’t smell yourself. haha
